3 x workshops on forest systems and permaculture

Planting a 260 square metre "Tiny Forest". Mini forest in Rehren (municipality of Auetal): A community planting event as part of a permaculture workshop

The flowful Collective is bringing a Tiny Forest based on the innovative Miyawaki method right to the gates of Hanover. This 260 square metre mini forest in the heart of Rehren will be implemented by interested people on 2 and 3 December 2023 in a workshop format under the motto "We are planting a Tiny Forest".

The planning and realisation of this initiative are the result of a joint effort between the Volkshochschule Calenberger Land and the Flowful Collective. The participants of a one-week educational holiday on permaculture in Barsinghausen carefully designed the layout and selected native plant species for the Tiny Forest.

Three 4-hour courses will provide you with an introduction to forest systems in permaculture and the opportunity to participate in the creation of the Tiny Forest actively. Each course concludes with space for questions and answers so that you can reconnect your experiences with the ideas of permaculture. The three dates are as follows:

  • 02.12.23, 09:00 to 13:00

  • 02.12.23, 14:00 to 18:00

  • 03.12.23, 11:00 to 15:00

Each of the dates is suitable for children, young people and adults! We will focus on practical knowledge and ensure that in a German-speaking setting, you will get the most information and knowledge out of these 4 hours.

Meeting point Rehren (municipality of Auetal) exact location will be announced after registration

Energy compensation 30 EUR per person*

Tiny Forests, also known as "urban forests" or "mini-forests", are recognised worldwide for their ability to increase biodiversity, promote sustainability and provide habitat for wildlife. This project aims to transform an orchard into a thriving ecosystem and invite even more native plant diversity.

*The money will be forwarded as a donation for reforestation projects in Germany, Portugal and for the protection of indigenous cultures in Brazil.

Key project highlights:

A 260 square metre Tiny Forest with over 500 new plants: The Tiny Forest will create a habitat for local wildlife, increase biodiversity with 26 new plant species and introduce residents to the beauty of nature. More information about the project: Tiny Forest
